Plait Style: Follow our easy step by step guide below |
|||||||||||
| The basic rule to achieve an up-do is to wash the hair the day before if possible. Do not overload with heavy treatments that will soften the hair and make it impossible to manage. A moisturizing treatment is actually used once in a while depending on your hair type. This should especially help when braiding, However, there are a number of different approaches to this style depending on the final look desired. | |||||||||||

Step 1 wash: Step 3 The Plat:
● The hardest part of the French plait is to hold the three strands of hair in two hands. ● A tip: you only need to keep track of two strands at time and you can hold them in one hand. ● Comb the hair down flat, distributing evenly all around the head. ● Choose the direction of the plait and where you will start. I usually create a parting at the back which will be hidden if you plait with a loose tension. ● Another option is to create a side parting and start with enough tension to separate the sides while plaiting both toward the back. ● Rub a small quantity of Davines No 5 Matt Pliable Putty between your hands to help control the hair. |

● Pick a section of hair and divide it evenly into three.
● Make a basic braid crossing left hair over centre and right hair over. ● Hold the right strand between your thumb and fore-finger.Let the middle strand hang free.
● Hold the left hair between your first and middle fingers.
● Now your left hand is free to gather a section of hair from the left side and add it to the section you hold between the first and middle fingers.
● Reach under the left strand which you just overlapped and pick up the middle strand with the thumb and fore-finger of your left hand and pull on your left.
● Drop what now is the middle strand and move the right strand over the left hand holding it between your first and second finger. Tilt your hand up so that you can pick up the middle strand with your right hand, between your thumb and first finger and pull it all the way to the right.
● You have now finished the first turn. Carry on like this for the other side, picking in turn, each section of hair which follows the hairline until you reach the other side.
